Dawn Buckingham is a Republican politician and physician serving as Texas Land Commissioner since January 2023, making her the first woman in Texas history to hold the position. Born February 21, 1968, she grew up on a ranch near the Texas coast before moving to Central Texas, coming from a family of early Texas settlers seven generations ago. She is married to Ed Buckingham, with whom she has two children, and resides in Lakeway, Texas. An avid hunter, outdoorswoman, and former volunteer firefighter , she owns Eye Physicians of Austin and emphasizes border security, veterans' support, energy, and education in her roles.
