Biography
David E. Young is a Republican state representative for Iowa House District 28. Born on May 11, 1968, in Van Meter, Dallas County, Iowa, he is a sixth-generation Iowan who grew up, attended high school, and college in Iowa's Third Congressional District area. He previously served as U.S. Congressman for Iowa's 3rd District from 2015 to 2019, where he earned a perfect 100% voting record and authored key bipartisan laws like the No Veterans Crisis Line Call Should Go Unanswered Act, Rural Call Quality Act, and Securing Our Agriculture and Food Act. Currently in his first term as state representative, he chairs the Commerce Committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Johnston High School in Johnston, Iowa, in 1986.
- Early Career: Worked briefly in Des Moines after college, then served seven years as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley in Washington, DC.
