Biography
David Willis
Representative David Willis is a Republican representing North Carolina House District 68, located in Western Union County, serving the areas of Marvin and Waxhaw.
Willis is a small business owner and community leader who has lived in Western Union County for nearly 20 years. He resides in Marvin with his wife Shannon and their three children, who attend public schools. He is an active member of Calvary Church and owns and operates a local preschool serving families in his community.
Beyond his legislative duties, Willis is involved in several community organizations, including serving as a member of the NC State Board of Community Colleges, sitting on the Board of Union County Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and serving as youth services chair of the Waxhaw-Weddington Rotary Club.
Education and Professional Background
Willis is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Following his graduation, he spent more than 15 years in the corporate sector, working in manufacturing, banking, and finance. This professional experience provided him with business acumen that he has applied to his entrepreneurial ventures. Over the past several years, he has built and operated a successful small business, bringing more than 25 years of total business experience to his role.
Political Experience
Willis is currently serving his third term in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Within the legislature, he holds significant leadership positions, including Chair of Appropriations for Education, Chair of Education K-12, and Vice Chair of Appropriations. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Committee and is a member of several other committees, including Homeland Security and Military and Veterans Affairs, Housing and Development, and the House Select Committee on Helene Recovery.
