Biography
David Lawrence Wilkerson is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 38 in West and South Cobb County, including Powder Springs. A Certified Public Accountant and progressive leader, he has served since 2011, currently as Minority Whip . Notable achievements include being unanimously elected Chair of the Cobb County Legislative Delegation in 2019—the first Democrat in decades and first African American to hold the position—and previously serving as the first African American Chairman of the Cobb County Democratic Party. He advocates for public education funding, affordable higher education, middle-class tax relief, and has received awards from the Georgia School Counselor Association, Georgia Association of Educators, and Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education.
Born in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to Sergeant First Class Richard and Helen Wilkerson, he grew up attending public schools and resides in Powder Springs with his wife Penny and two children.

- Education: Graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a degree in Accounting; earned CPA credentials at Deloitte & Touche, a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Political Experience: Elected to Georgia House in 2010 ; served as Treasurer for the Democratic Caucus; House Leadership team member. Current committees: Education, Juvenile Justice, Retirement, Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Science and Technology.
