Biography
David I. Weprin is a Democratic Assembly Member representing New York's 24th Assembly District in Queens. Born on May 2, 1956, in Queens to Sylvia and Saul Weprin , he has lived his entire life in the Hollis-Jamaica area and comes from an Orthodox Jewish family with a strong political legacy—his father served the same district for 23 years, and his brother Mark Weprin for over 15 years. Notable achievements include serving as Deputy Superintendent of Banks under Governor Mario Cuomo , regulating over 3,000 financial institutions; chairing the New York City Council's Finance Committee as a freshman member , where he led efforts for $400 annual property tax rebates and opposed congestion pricing; and sponsoring legislation like the Adoptee Bill of Rights.
