Biography
David Gerard Wasinger, born August 9, 1963, is a Republican attorney, accountant, and politician serving as the 49th Lieutenant Governor of Missouri since 2025. A lifelong Missourian born and raised in Hannibal, he defeated Democrat Richard Brown in the November 5, 2024, election with approximately 56% of the vote. Previously unelected to office, Wasinger is known for his work as a business law attorney who successfully sued large banks after the 2008 financial crisis, securing tens of millions for clients, and for promising to challenge the "Jefferson City establishment" as an "America-first conservative."
Education and Political Experience
- Earned an undergraduate degree and worked as a Certified Public Accountant before joining a small law firm in 1991, which became Wasinger Daming in Brentwood, Missouri, specializing in business law.
- Served on the University of Missouri Board of Curators from 2005 to 2011, appointed by Gov. Matt Blunt.
- Ran for Missouri State Auditor in 2018, placing second in the Republican primary.
- Elected Lieutenant Governor in 2024; as of 2026, holds positions including participation in state events like the Route 66 Plaza dedication.
