Biography

David Goncalves Valadao is a Republican U.S. Representative for California's 22nd congressional district, which includes Kings, Kern, and Tulare Counties in the San Joaquin Valley. Born on April 14, 1977, in Hanford, California, he is a lifelong Central Valley resident, dairy farmer, and member of a family that emigrated from the Azores Islands of Portugal in 1969. A moderate Republican, Valadao has notable achievements including voting to impeach Donald Trump in his second impeachment , long-term service on the influential House Appropriations Committee across all six terms, leadership in agriculture and water policy, and roles on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration. He has been reelected multiple times, including in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
