David Tyson Smith is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives representing District 46. He is an attorney from Columbia, Missouri, and the first Black state representative from that area, as well as the first outside of St. Louis and Kansas City. Smith founded Smith & Parnell LLC after working as an attorney in New Orleans. He assumed office in April 2021 via a special election for District 45 and shifted to District 46 after 2022 redistricting.

• Political Experience: Selected by the Boone County Democratic Committee in 2021 to succeed Kip Kendrick; won special election for the remainder of the term; re-elected to District 46 in subsequent primaries and general elections.
