David Scott (GA-13)

Biography

David Scott, born on June 27, 1945, in Aynor, South Carolina, is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving Georgia's 13th Congressional District since 2003. The district encompasses parts of Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Fulton, Henry, and DeKalb counties. Before his tenure in Congress, Scott served in the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate . He is married to Alfredia Scott, and they have two daughters, Dayna and Marcye.

Education and Political Experience

• Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Florida A&M University, graduated with honors in 1967.
  • Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduated with honors in 1969.

• Political Experience:

  • Elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1974, serving until 1982.
  • Served in the Georgia State Senate from 1983 to 2002.
  • Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002; currently serving his 11th term.
