David Niezgodski is a Democratic state senator representing Indiana Senate District 10, which includes portions of St. Joseph County such as South Bend and New Carlisle. A retired owner of the fourth-generation family-owned Niezgodski Plumbing Inc. , he has held an Indiana State Plumbing Contractors License since 1986 and worked in the plumbing industry for over 40 years. He lives in South Bend with his wife Sheila, two children , and two grandchildren . Notable achievements include receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in 2003, the Civility Award from the Association of Retired Members of the Indiana General Assembly, and chairing the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Board from 2000-2006.
