Biography
David Martin is a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 26 in York County, which includes Fort Mill between I-77 and Lancaster County. Born on February 27, 1987, he was born and raised in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and assumed office on November 11, 2024, after winning the Republican primary against Elizabeth Enns and defeating Democrat Matt Vilardebo in the general election. He is a father of two daughters and founded the David W. Martin Law Group in 2018, which grew to 22 employees across eight offices and was recognized on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies. His campaign emphasized reducing government restrictions on business, lowering taxes, advocating for public schools, and protecting individual freedoms. Martin serves on the House Judiciary Committee, Regulations and Administrative Procedures Committee, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Committee, and has sponsored bills like HB4819 .
Education and Political Experience
- Graduated from Fort Mill High School as a multi-sport athlete.
- Earned a B.A. in Political Science with honors from Coastal Carolina University, where he was quarterback on the football team and a member of the Political Science National Honor Society, Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, and Phi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.
- Obtained a law degree from Charlotte School of Law and practiced as a lawyer before entering politics.
His political experience began with the 2024 election to replace incumbent Raye Felder; he currently faces a 2026 Republican primary rematch with Elizabeth Enns.
