Biography
David Maloney
David M. Maloney Sr. was born on August 25, 1960, and is an American politician from Pennsylvania representing the Commonwealth's 130th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party, Maloney is a carpenter by trade who has dedicated his career to public service and legislative work focused on property rights, child protection, and conservation.
Political Experience
Maloney first entered public service by serving on the Oley Valley School Board from 2006 to 2009. He was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2010 to represent the 130th District, which encompasses parts of Berks County including the townships of Alsace, Colebrookdale, Earl, Hereford, Longswamp, Maidencreek, Oley, Pike, Richmond, Rockland, Ruscombmanor, and Washington, along with several boroughs including Boyertown, Fleetwood, and Topton. Maloney has been re-elected to six consecutive terms since his initial election.
In 2023, he was appointed Republican Chairman of the House Game and Fisheries Committee for the 2023-24 legislative session, where he oversees efforts to ensure responsible operation of the Pennsylvania Game and Fish and Boat Commissions and initiatives to combat Chronic Wasting Disease and restore wildlife populations.
Legislative Achievements
Maloney has sponsored and championed numerous bills that became law. He sponsored a constitutional amendment adopted by Pennsylvania voters in November 2017 that allows for the exclusion of 100% of homestead and farmstead property tax assessments. His other notable legislative accomplishments include the "Don't Pass the Trash" law requiring background checks for those working with children, mandatory school reporting of child abuse occurrences, legislation establishing First Responders Day in Pennsylvania , requirements to display the POW/MIA flag on state-owned properties, and legislation permitting public schools to serve as venues for hunter education courses.
His ongoing legislative priorities include property tax elimination, child protection, removal of barriers to private sector job creation, protection of property rights, and conservation efforts.
