Biography
David E. Lucas Sr. is a Democratic State Senator representing District 26 in the Georgia State Senate, which includes Hancock, Twiggs, Washington, and Wilkinson counties, as well as portions of Bibb, Houston, and Jones counties. First elected to the Senate in 2012, he previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1975 to 2011. He is self-employed in insurance sales, resides in Macon, GA, with his wife Elaine, and they have four children: David Jr., Aris, Leonard, and Albert. Notable achievements include founding 100 Black Men and the Al Lucas Scholarship Foundation, and receiving the Distinguished Service Award for Excellence in Political Activities from NYU at Manhattan. He serves on the Senate Appropriations, Economic Development and Tourism, Regulated Industries and Utilities, Transportation, and Urban Affairs Committees.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Tuskegee Institute; MD from Mercer University; JD from Mercer University; Honorary Doctorate of Law from Mercer University.
- Political Experience: Sworn into Georgia House of Representatives in January 1975 ; sworn into Georgia State Senate in January 2013 . Candidate for re-election in the 2026 Georgia Primary Election.
