Biography
David P. Givens is a Republican state senator representing District 9 in the Kentucky Senate since 2009, covering Allen, Barren, Green, Metcalfe, Monroe, and Simpson counties. Born December 26, 1966, in Greensburg, Kentucky, he serves as President Pro Tempore of the Kentucky Senate, presiding over sessions and signing legislation as needed. A Presbyterian and managing partner at Central Farmers Supply, he is also the primary stockholder and beef producer at Green River Cattle Company. Notable achievements include promoting conservative legislation, job creation through local control and reduced business regulations, agriculture advocacy, workforce development, computer programming education, and strong ties between education and the economy.
