Biography

David Cook is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving District 96 in Tarrant County, which includes parts of Arlington, Burleson, Crowley, Fort Worth, Kennedale, Mansfield, and Rendon. Born on July 5, 1971, he is a board-certified family law attorney and managing partner of Harris Cook L.L.P., which he co-founded. He previously served as Mayor of Mansfield from 2008 to 2021. First elected to the Texas House in November 2020 and sworn in January 2021, he is currently in his third term. Notable achievements include passing his first law in 2021 to ease child support modifications, filing 69 bills in 2023 with 14 passing, serving as vice chair of the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee and on the Calendars Committee, and receiving the 2023 GOPAC “Emerging Leader” recognition. He chairs the House Standing Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice, serves on the Delivery of Government Efficiency Committee, and was State Chair of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers. Awards include Mansfield News Mirror’s “Best Local Government Official,” Fort Worth Business Press’ “40 Under 40,” and Fort Worth Texas Magazine’s “Top Attorney.”
