Biography
David Borrero
David Borrero is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives representing District 111, which includes parts of Miami-Dade County. Born December 14, 1988, in Queens, New York City, he relocated to Florida in 2004 and currently resides in Hialeah.
Before his election to the state legislature, Borrero worked in various professional capacities. From 2010 to 2016, he served as a grants manager for the city of Sweetwater, Florida. In 2016, he worked as campaign manager for Carlos Trujillo's successful re-election campaign to the Florida House of Representatives. He later joined T&G Constructors as an account executive in 2017. Borrero has also served as a member of the Sweetwater City Commission.
Education
Borrero holds multiple degrees from Florida institutions:
- Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Florida International University
- Master of Business Administration from Florida International University
- Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law
He is currently employed as an attorney.
Political Experience
Borrero was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in November 2020, initially representing the 105th district. Following redistricting after the 2020 census, he was moved to the 111th district in 2022, where he continues to serve. He has been reelected to the position.
A notable legislative action occurred in January 2024, when Borrero authored a bill that would prohibit flags depicting "racial, sexual orientation and gender, or political ideology viewpoint" in state government buildings, public schools, and universities. The proposed law would also apply to lapel pins featuring pride flags or Black Lives Matter symbols.
