Biography
David L. Blom is a Republican state representative serving Iowa House District 52, which includes Marshalltown and the southeast quadrant of Marshall County. Born in 1997 in Des Moines, Blom is a Marshalltown native and union sheet metal worker employed at Raymon Enterprises in Albion. He is the son of a Marshalltown educator and engineer.
Education
Blom attended Marshalltown High School and earned an associate's degree from Marshalltown Community College. Prior to his legislative career, he worked as a senior camp counselor at Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp.
Political Experience
Blom was elected to the Iowa House in 2024, serving his first term in the 91st General Assembly . He was formally designated as the Republican nominee for House District 52 during a special convention in June 2024, ultimately defeating two-term Democratic incumbent Sue Cahill.
In the legislature, Blom serves on several committees and holds leadership positions, including Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee. His other committee assignments include Appropriations, Local Government, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee and the RIIF Budget Subcommittee.
