Biography
Dave Yaccarino is a Republican member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing the 87th District . Born on October 31, 1958, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was first elected in 2010 and assumed office in January 2011. He was re-elected for a seventh term in 2022 and won re-election in 2024. Notable positions include House Republican Senior Whip, Ranking Member of the Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee, and Ranking Republican on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. He has held leadership roles such as Assistant Minority Leader , Republican Whip , Senior Republican Whip , and Chief Republican Whip . Yaccarino serves on committees including Finance, Revenue and Bonding; Public Safety and Security; Energy and Technology; General Law; and Labor. He co-sponsored HB 7102, which unanimously passed to adjust school building project funding.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned an A.A. in liberal sciences from Gateway Community College.
- Professional Background: Worked as a U.S. history teacher and owned DJ’s Sports Collectible and Comics. Served in the United States Navy Reserve.
- Political Experience: Member of the North Haven Republican Town Committee. Elected to the Connecticut House in 2010, defeating incumbent Steve Fontana; re-elected without opposition in 2012. Lives in North Haven, Connecticut.
