Biography
Dave Wright is a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 19, which covers the northeastern parts of Knox County, including Corryton where he resides. Born on September 3, 1945, he is married with one son, William, and is retired from AT&T. Wright is a Christian and has served on the Knox County Commission since his appointment in 2008, followed by election to a partial term. He was elected to the state house in 2018 with 72.61% of the vote and won re-election in subsequent cycles, including unopposed in the 2022 Republican primary. Notable positions include supporting the 2023 resolution to expel Democratic lawmakers for decorum violations, an unprecedented action, and serving as Vice Chair of the House State & Local Government Committee. He also sits on the Transportation Committee, Cities & Counties Subcommittee, and Elections & Campaign Finance Subcommittee.
