Biography
David Lee Wilson is a Republican state senator from Delaware representing District 18. Born on January 8, 1950, in Lincoln, Delaware, Wilson has established a career in public service spanning nearly two decades at the state level. He resides in Lincoln with his spouse, Carolyn, and has one child, David Jr.
Education
Wilson is a graduate of Milford High School in Delaware.
Political Experience
Wilson began his legislative career in the Delaware House of Representatives, serving District 35 from 2008 to 2018. During his time in the House, he served on multiple committees including Agriculture, Capital Infrastructure, Corrections, Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources, Judiciary, Natural Resources, Public Safety and Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs.
In 2019, Wilson transitioned to the Delaware State Senate, where he has represented District 18 to the present. He was a candidate for reelection in 2022 and 2024. In the Senate, he currently serves as a member of the following committees: Agriculture, Capital Improvement, Health & Social Services, and Veterans Affairs.
Beyond his legislative work, Wilson is an accomplished auctioneer and farmer. He owns Wilsons Auction in Lincoln and maintains active involvement in his community through membership in various organizations, including the Delaware State Fair Board of Directors, Greater Lincoln Civic Association, American Haflinger Association, National Rifle Association, and Sons of the American Revolution. He previously served as Register of Willis for Sussex County from 2006 to 2008 and as Register in Chancery from 1992 to 2000.
