Biography

David "Dave" Weeks is a Republican Vermont State Senator representing the Rutland District . Born on December 21, 1960, he is a retired Navy Captain and Iraq combat veteran with 31 years of national service, beginning as a Marine Corps enlisted infantryman. As a Navy Surface Warfare Officer, he completed three active-duty shipboard tours forward-deployed to the Far East and Middle East, followed by two combat tours in Iraq in the Navy Reserves and five Commanding Officer posts. Originally from Wallingford, he now resides in Proctor, Vermont, and serves as an Aerospace Program Manager with 40 years of experience in international fixed-price contracts, high-risk endeavors, and high-technology operations and business development. His final project managed funds equivalent to over a third of Vermont's state budget. Notable community involvement includes serving on the Boy/Girl Scout Council Executive Board, Eagle Scout Alumni Association Board, as a Scouting unit commissioner, former Scoutmaster, Long Trail maintenance volunteer, soccer coach, and Little League baseball umpire. He was first elected to the Vermont Senate in 2023 and won reelection in 2024.
