Biography
Dave Wallace is a Republican politician currently serving in the Arkansas State Senate representing District 19, which includes all of Mississippi County and parts of Craighead and Poinsett Counties. He was born on November 24, 1948, and is based in Leachville, Arkansas.
Wallace works in Disaster Recovery at Wallace Resource Systems and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist church. He is a United States Army veteran who served for more than 20 years in various command positions.
Education and Military Service
Wallace was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the ROTC program in 1970. He led troops across multiple ranks, serving as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander, and Battalion Commander in units including The 101st Airborne, First Cavalry Division, the First Infantry Division, and the 17th Aviation Group.
Political Experience
Wallace began his political career as a City Alderman before serving one term in the Arkansas House of Representatives beginning in 2015. He was elected to the Senate in 2016, defeating Democratic incumbent David Burnett with 60.4% of the vote, and was sworn in on the first day of session in 2017. He has been re-elected in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
In the Senate, Wallace serves as vice chair of the Senate Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee and is a member of multiple committees including the Senate City, County and Local Affairs Committee, the Senate Interim Committee on Children and Youth, and the Joint Budget Committee.
Among his notable legislative achievements, Wallace sponsored legislation to replace Arkansas's statues in the United States Capitol with ones honoring Daisy Gatson Bates and Johnny Cash. He co-sponsored Acts 78 and 79, providing over $50 million in tax relief to low-income families, and sponsored Act 50 to shorten waiting lists for treatment and care of people with developmental disabilities.
