Biography
Dave Syverson is a Republican state senator representing Illinois' 35th District since 1993. Born June 29 in Chicago, he was raised and educated in Rockford, built a business and family in Winnebago County, and now resides in Cherry Valley in Boone County. He is married to Lori, with four children and two grandchildren. Syverson works as a financial and benefits consultant through his firm, Syverson Resource Advisors, and is involved in other business interests and local charities, including building playgrounds in underserved areas.
Notable achievements include sponsoring and passing over 100 pieces of legislation improving quality of life for families, seniors, and those with special needs, such as Illinois' historic welfare reform, children's health insurance program, property tax caps/exemptions, Medicaid and long-term care reforms, pension reform, and the Home Fraud Protection Act. He created the Illinois Manufacturing Caucus to support the manufacturing sector and has never accepted pay raises or cost-of-living increases, donating them to charities instead. Currently, he serves as Spokesperson for the Insurance, Health and Human Services, and Appropriations Committees; Co-Chair of the bipartisan Hospital Transformation and Medicaid Reform Committees; and a member of Public Health, Behavioral and Mental Health, Licensed Activities, Local Government committees, and the Government Forecasting and Accountability Commission.
