David Rutigliano

David Rutigliano was born on July 14, 1965, and is a Republican member of the Connecticut House of Representatives. He represents the 123rd district, which encompasses most of Trumbull, and has served since January 9, 2013. He is currently in his seventh term.

Rutigliano resides in Trumbull with his wife Michele, whom he has been married to for over 30 years, and their two sons. The family is actively involved in their local community through participation in Trumbull Little League, Babe Ruth, and their local church.

Education

Rutigliano holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in restaurant, culinary, and catering from Johnson and Wales University.

Political Experience and Achievements

Legislative Positions: Rutigliano currently serves as Deputy House Republican Leader and is the ranking member of the General Law Committee. For the 2025 and 2026 legislative sessions, he sits on two of the General Assembly's most powerful committees: the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, which oversees all state taxes and bonding, and the Judiciary Committee, which writes state laws dealing with crime and the courts.

Business Background: Before his legislative career, Rutigliano worked as a chef and restaurateur with over 25 years of experience in the culinary field. He is a partner in the SBC Restaurant Group, which owns and operates Southport Brewing Company , Local Kitchen & Beer Bar, the Sitting Duck Tavern , and SBC Restaurant in Milford. Through his business ventures, he has created over 300 jobs in Connecticut.

Prior Service: Rutigliano previously served as a member of both the Trumbull Board of Finance and the Trumbull Economic Development Commission.

Legislative Accomplishments: He has played a significant role in passing numerous bills and improving hundreds of bipartisan pieces of legislation. His notable achievements include securing Republican budget passage, supporting mental health and opioid legislation, and helping to obtain 1.5 million dollars in funding for the Trumbull veterans center.
