Biography
Dave Prestin represents the 108th District in the Michigan House of Representatives. He resides in Cedar River with his wife, Kathie, to whom he has been married for 24 years, and their daughter, Mattie. Professionally, Prestin is a small-business owner who specializes in rehabilitating neglected properties, most recently the Cedar River Plaza. He has served as a volunteer paramedic and firefighter for his community for the last 15 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a hospital-based paramedic and as a substitute teacher to help fill critical staffing shortages in both fields. He is involved with the Mid County 114 Rescue Squad Board of Directors, the Stephenson Chapter of the Lions Club, and the Stephenson Eagles Booster Club.
Education
Prestin studied at Bay De Noc Community College, Waukesha County Technical College, and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Political Experience
Prestin was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2022. He represents the 108th District, which includes the Upper Peninsula counties of Delta, Menominee, Schoolcraft, and Luce, as well as parts of Chippewa and Mackinac. Within the legislature, he serves as vice chair of the House Energy Committee. He also serves as a member of the Natural Resources and Tourism, Health Policy, and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees. Prior to his state service, Prestin served four years on the Menominee County Board of Commissioners. He also served nine years on the Alger Delta Electrical Cooperative Board of Directors, where the board appointed him to serve as an interim manager to oversee daily operations during a time of transition.
