Biography
Dave Pinto is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party representing District 64B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which includes parts of Saint Paul in Ramsey County, such as the Highland Park, Mac-Groveland, and Fort Road/West Seventh neighborhoods. Born on April 12, 1972, and raised in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, he has served since 2015 after being first elected in 2014 following the retirement of incumbent Michael Paymar; he has been reelected every two years since. Currently, he works as a prosecutor for Ramsey County, specializing in crimes of gender violence including domestic assault and sex trafficking. He is married with two children. Notable leadership roles include assistant minority leader , chair of the Early Childhood Finance and Policy Committee , and since 2023, chair of the Children and Families Finance and Policy Committee ; he also serves on Public Safety Finance and Policy, Taxes, Ways and Means, and other committees.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. in government from Harvard University; J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Virginia.
- Early Career: Clerked for Judge Diana E. Murphy on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and worked in the office of U.S. Representative Bruce Vento.
- Political Experience: Elected to Minnesota House in 2014 ; key committee leadership in early childhood, children and families, public safety, taxes, ways and means, workforce, labor, economic development, and fraud prevention.
