Biography
Dave Murphy is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing District 56. Born on November 26, 1954, he grew up on a dairy farm in the Town of Grand Chute. He currently resides in Greenville with his wife, Lynn. The couple has two adult children, Pat and Sara, and multiple grandchildren. Before entering public office, Murphy worked as an agri-business owner for two decades, collaborating closely with dairy farmers. He and his wife also owned several fitness centers named Inches-A-Weigh in the Town of Grand Chute.
Education
Murphy graduated from Hortonville High School in 1972. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Fox Valley for two years. He subsequently enrolled in the Wisconsin School of Real Estate, where he received his Real Estate Broker's license.
Political Experience
Murphy was elected to Wisconsin's 56th Assembly District in November 2012 and assumed office on January 7, 2013. He is serving his fifth term. During his legislative service, he has served as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities. His committee assignments include membership on the Committees on Campaigns and Elections; Financial Institutions; Health, Aging, and Long Term Care; and Housing and Real Estate.
