Biography

Representative Dave Maxey

Dave G. Maxey was born on January 15, 1973, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He is a life-long resident of Waukesha County and has built a career as a marketing professional. Maxey is married with three children and moved his family to New Berlin in 2003, where he has remained actively involved in community service.

Before entering electoral politics, Maxey served in the U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1994, including service aboard the USS Leftwich. He has enjoyed a successful 25+ year career in sales and marketing.

Education

Maxey graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1991. Following his military service, he earned an associate degree in marketing from Waukesha County Technical College.

Political Experience

Maxey began his public service at the local level. In 2008, he was elected to the New Berlin Board of Education and served as board president from 2011 to 2017, focusing on fiscal responsibility, academic achievement, and school choice initiatives.

In 2019, Maxey was elected to the New Berlin Common Council, where he worked to strengthen public safety, promote economic development, and ensure responsible budgeting. He is one of the few elected officials in Wisconsin serving simultaneously at both local and state levels.

In 2022, Maxey was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly as a Republican, representing the 83rd Assembly District, which includes all of New Berlin as well as portions of Waukesha and Muskego. Following redistricting in 2024, he was re-elected to represent the new 83rd district.

In the Assembly, Maxey serves as Chairman of the Campaigns and Elections Committee and Vice-Chair of the Public Benefit Reform Committee. He is also a member of the Corrections, Local Government, Transportation, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committees. Maxey is a strong advocate for conservative values, including limited government, low taxes, and individual freedoms.
