Biography

Dave Dobos is a former Republican state representative from Ohio's 10th House District, serving from 2023 to 2024 and representing parts of southwest Franklin County, including Grove City and Columbus. Born in Columbus, he is married to Lora and has two children, Joseph and Alex. Professionally, he is president of Sheridan WorldWise, Inc., a supplier of educational materials, and was a principal and founder of Direct Micro, which received Governor Voinovich’s Export Excellence Award in 1993. He withdrew from the 2024 Republican primary due to challenges balancing business and legislative duties.

Education and Political Experience

Dobos attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 1970s and 1980s, studying economics, but did not graduate despite earlier claims on his campaign website and Ohio House biography that he did; he later apologized for the misrepresentation. His MIT attendance qualified him for the MIT Club of Central Ohio, where he participated in alumni activities like fundraising.

Political Experience: Served in the Ohio House of Representatives , sponsoring 342 bills including the New African Immigrants Grant and Gift Fund. Previously elected to the Columbus Board of Education , where he was vice president and president , leading reforms in curriculum, student assignment, equity, financing, and budgeting that improved the district's state academic rating. Community roles include president of the Hilltop Business Association, and service on boards for the J. Ashburn, Jr., Youth Center, Homes on the Hill, and Greater Hilltop Area Commission. Named to Business First Magazine's inaugural 40 Under 40 in 1993.
