Biography
David DiPietro
David J. DiPietro was born on June 22, 1960, and is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly representing Assembly District 147. His district comprises the southern portion of Erie County and all of Wyoming County in New York.
DiPietro has deep roots in his community, having served as a trustee of the Village of East Aurora in 1999 and as mayor beginning in 2002 before his election to the state legislature.
Political Experience
DiPietro was first elected to the New York State Assembly on November 6, 2012, and was re-elected in 2024. He holds several significant positions within the legislature:
- New York State Minority Whip for the 2025-2026 legislative season
- Ranking Member of the Correction Committee
- Member of the Aging, Banks, and Labor Committees
- Appointee to the Legislative Commission on Public Management Systems
He also holds affiliation with the Conservative Party in addition to the Republican Party.
Notable Achievements
DiPietro is recognized for his focus on agricultural issues and has received the American Farm Bureau Federation's "Friend of Farm Bureau" award in recognition of his commitment to prioritizing the needs of New York agriculture. He is known for his efforts to cut taxes, reduce government spending, and support small businesses and family farms in his district.
In 2019, DiPietro sponsored Bill A05498, which proposes a constitutional amendment to divide New York State into three autonomous regions.
