Biography

David G. "Dave" Argall is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate representing District 29, which covers 102 municipalities in northeastern Pennsylvania, including all of Schuylkill and Carbon Counties and part of Luzerne County . As Chairman of the Senate Majority Policy Committee and a member of the Senate’s majority leadership team, his top legislative priority is revitalizing downtowns and older industrial neighborhoods affected by manufacturing and mining job losses. Notable achievements include chairing a bipartisan commission that recommended over $400 million in savings, authoring legislation recycling over 97% of Pennsylvania’s waste tires, and leading conservation and abandoned mine reclamation initiatives. He previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives , including as Republican Whip and Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Tamaqua Area High School ; B.A. in Political Science and International Studies, Lycoming College ; Master's in American Studies, Pennsylvania State University ; Ph.D. in Public Administration, Pennsylvania State University . His doctoral studies focused on economic and political transformations in post-Berlin Wall Germany and Pennsylvania’s Keystone Opportunity Zones. He has taught public policy part-time for over 30 years at Lycoming College, Penn State, and Lehigh Carbon Community College.
