Biography
Darrin Madison is a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing District 10 . A lifelong organizer and advocate from Milwaukee, he was born on February 1, 1997, and openly ran as a Democratic Socialist. Along with Rep. Clancy, he became one of the first socialists elected to the Wisconsin Legislature since 1931 after winning his seat in 2022. He is currently serving his first term and focuses on building an equitable society grounded in social, environmental, and economic justice. Madison serves on Assembly committees including Children and Families, Corrections, Criminal Justice and Public Safety, and Workforce Development and Economic Opportunity. He was also appointed by Governor Evers to the Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership Council.
Education and Political Experience
Madison began organizing at age 14 as an intern for the Urban Ecology Center, teaching environmentally friendly practices. At 15, he helped launch the "Fresh P.L.A.I.T.S." urban agriculture campaign with Urban Underground to promote organic produce. He served as Deputy Campaign Manager for former State Rep. David Bowen and worked as Democracy Organizer for the African American Roundtable. In 2021, he ran for Milwaukee County Board District 10 in a special election, losing by about 12 votes. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Turners, Democratic Socialists of America, and National Youth Alliance For Boys & Men Of Color.
