Biography
Darrin Quiroz Camilleri, born January 28, 1992, in Dearborn, Michigan, is a Democratic member of the Michigan Senate representing District 4. This district spans 17 communities across Downriver and Western Wayne County, including Brownstown Township , Trenton , Belleville, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Huron Township, Riverview, Rockwood, Romulus, Southgate, Sumpter Township, Taylor , Van Buren Township, Wayne City, Woodhaven, and Wyandotte.
He serves as Assistant Majority Leader, Chairman of the PreK-12 School Aid Budget , and sits on committees including Labor , Elections, Energy and Environment, Transportation, Education, and Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection.
Camilleri is Michigan’s youngest Latino and first-ever Maltese-American state legislator. Son and grandson of union auto workers from immigrant families, he has championed labor issues, including legislation to repeal Michigan’s “Right to Work” law, and focused on education reforms to address the literacy crisis and teacher shortages.

- Early Career: Social Studies Teacher, Team Lead, and Freshmen Advisor at Consortium College Prep High School ; Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Brownstown Township ; Student Body President, Kalamazoo College ; Constituent Relations Intern for former U.S. Rep. John D. Dingell .
- Political Experience: Elected to Michigan House of Representatives for District 23 in 2016 ; reelected for two more terms . Elected to Senate District 4 in 2022, defeating Republican Houston James .
