Biography
Danny Sterling is a Republican representative for Oklahoma House District 27, serving since 2018. Born and raised in Noble, Oklahoma, on a family dairy farm, he has a 40-year career in education at Tecumseh Public Schools, teaching agriculture education and serving as assistant principal and principal at Tecumseh High School. He owns a small cattle operation and served 17 years as co-director and manager of the Central District Livestock Show in Shawnee. Sterling and his wife, Jenna, have four grown sons and six grandchildren, and they are members of Faith Christian Church, where he serves on the leadership team. Notable positions include Chair of A&B Judiciary, Vice Chair of Common Education, and service on committees like Appropriations and Budget, A&B Public Safety, and Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget. He authored HB 1939 to increase transparency in turnpike project planning, requiring public input, oversight, and studies on routes, economic impacts, and environmental considerations.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Noble Public Schools; earned a Bachelor's and Master's in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University, graduating in the top 10% of his class; honors include President’s Honor Roll, Dean’s Honor Roll, Alpha Zeta, and Phi Kappa Phi.
- Political Experience: Elected to Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 27 ; re-elected by default in 2020; candidate in 2024 general election. Prior involvement includes 6 years on the Oklahoma Agriculture Education Teachers Association Board , Pottawatomie County Fair Board, and Shawnee Agri-Business Task Force.
