Biography
Daniel B. Short is a Republican member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing District 39 since 2006. A Seaford native and owner of Short Insurance Associates, he has over three decades in the insurance industry and received the “Douglas F. Bennetti” Public Service Award from the Delaware Insurance Agents Association. Notable achievements include lifelong service with the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department as Fire Chief, induction into the Delaware Fire Service Firefighters Hall of Fame in 1982, and the Heroic Fireman of the Year award for a life-saving rescue. He served as Seaford city councilman and mayor for four terms until 2006, House Minority Whip , and House Minority Leader . He currently serves on committees including Joint Finance, Appropriations, Economic Development/Banking/Insurance & Commerce, Gaming & Parimutuels, Revenue & Finance, and Veterans Affairs. Married to Debbie for over 50 years, he has one daughter, three granddaughters, and one grandson; he enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, and riding his Harley Davidson.
