Biography

Danny Mathis is a Republican state representative for Georgia House District 133, which includes all of Bleckley, Twiggs, Wilkinson, and Dodge counties, and portions of Telfair County. A lifelong resident of Cochran in Bleckley County, he owns and operates Mathis Funeral Home, Inc., and previously served as Bleckley County coroner for 18 years. Elected in 2018, he was sworn in on January 14, 2019, and has won reelection, including against challengers in 2020 and facing a primary opponent in the 2026 election. He has been married to Ellen Purser Mathis for over 46 years, with three children and six grandchildren.

Education and Political Experience
