Biography
Danny Garrett is a Republican representing District 44 in the Alabama House of Representatives since November 2014. He serves as House majority whip and represents parts of Jefferson County, including Trussville, Clay, and portions of Pinson. Notable roles include chair of Ways and Means Education, vice chair of Education Ways and Means and Education Policy Committees, and co-chair of task forces on budget reform and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; during the COVID-19 pandemic, he chaired the Emergency Small Business Task Force subcommittee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from E.B. Erwin High School ; B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration and Master of Tax Accounting from the University of Alabama; passed Alabama CPA exam .
- Political Experience: Vice president of Trussville City School Board of Education prior to 2014 election; member of Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee; current committees include Permanent Joint Legislative Advisory Committee on Economic Incentives, Alabama Research and Development Enhancement Oversight Committee, and others.
