Biography
Danny Earl Britt Jr. is a Republican state senator representing District 24 in the North Carolina Senate, serving since 2017. Born on July 6, 1979, in Robeson County, he is the first Republican elected to this seat—centered in Robeson County, home to the Lumbee Native American Tribe—since the Reconstruction Era. A Lt. Colonel in the North Carolina Army National Guard, Britt has deployed twice, including watching his daughter Annsley's birth via Skype. Notable achievements include leading bipartisan criminal justice reform efforts that gained statewide recognition and serving as a disaster recovery leader during events like Hurricane Matthew. He currently chairs the Judiciary and Transportation committees and serves on Appropriations/Base Budget, Justice and Public Safety, Commerce and Insurance, Finance, and Health Care committees, among others.
