Biography

Danilo Burgos is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 197th district in north Philadelphia neighborhoods including Kensington, Hunting Park, Glenwood, and Feltonville. He is the first Dominican-American elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly, assumed office on January 2, 2019, and currently serves as chairman of the House Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committee.

Born on January 19, 1978, in New York City, Danilo Burgos is a first-generation Dominican-American. Before entering politics, he opened a grocery store in 1998, co-founded the Philadelphia Dominican Grocers Association, and worked for Philadelphia city councilors Allan Domb and Maria Quiñones-Sánchez. He has served on boards including the Eastern Pennsylvania Organizing Project, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, White Dog Community Foundation, Proyectos Sin Fronteras, and Visitation Community Center, and collaborated with organizations like Congreso de Latinos Unidos and The Latino Partnership.
