Biography
Daniele Monroe-Moreno is a Democratic Assemblymember representing District 1 in the Nevada State Assembly , a seat she has held since 2016. Born in Tucson, Arizona, she moved to Nevada over 25 years ago and has resided primarily in North Las Vegas, where she lives with her husband Gary, three daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren, and pets. A retired North Las Vegas Police Department Corrections Officer and former officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, she is a history-making figure as the first African American woman to hold a leadership position in the Nevada Assembly. Notable achievements include serving as Speaker Pro Tempore , Assistant Majority Leader , Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, Chair of the Nevada Black Legislative Caucus, and Chair of the Nevada Democratic Party . She has chaired the Committee on Growth & Infrastructure, served as Vice-Chair of the Assembly Ways & Means Committee, and held interim roles like Chair of the Legislative Committee on Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice. Her policy priorities emphasize maternal mortality, affordable housing, public safety, youth programs, workforce development, education, and balancing budgets without cuts to education or raises in taxes.
