Biography
Representative Daniel Alders
Daniel Alders is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving District 6 entirely within Smith County, including communities like Tyler, Whitehouse, Bullard, and Troup. He is in his first term, succeeding Matt Schaefer, and serves on committees including Delivery of Government Efficiency and Land & Resource Management.
A seventh-generation Texan raised on a family farm in Nacogdoches County, Alders is president of Drake Management Services, a commercial property management company in Tyler. Previously, he served as East Texas Regional Director for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, liaising with business owners and constituents across 35 counties. He has chaired the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee and the Tyler Chapter of the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Liberty Leadership Council. Alders prioritizes school choice, border security, water infrastructure, support for law enforcement, and justice for sexual assault victims. He resides in Tyler with his wife Joanna and two daughters, Trinity and Madeleine, and serves on the diaconate at Fifth Street Presbyterian Church and Unbound Now’s Smith County Advisory Board.
Education and Political Experience
Alders holds a Liberal Arts degree from New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho, and is a licensed Realtor. His political experience includes over 15 years in campaigns and offices, notably as Senator Ted Cruz's regional director starting around 2015, followed by his 2024 election to the Texas House for District 6.
