Biography
Dana Underwood McLean is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 39 . A native of Lowndes County and raised in Columbus, Mississippi, she is an attorney, real estate agent, and politician who defeated 28-year incumbent Rep. Jeff Smith in the 2019 Republican primary to win election in November 2019, assuming office on January 7, 2020. Notable achievements include her community service as a Girl Scouts troop leader for six years, volunteering in Tampa, Florida, to fundraise for a Ugandan school providing free tuition, meals, and supplies, and leading a fundraiser to build a medical center in Uganda for mothers and children. She serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and has been endorsed by the Mississippi Public Education PAC for her support of teacher pay improvements, early childhood education, and family involvement in education.
