Biography
Dan K. Williams is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, serving District 74 in Chester County since 2019. He is the first Democratic person of color to represent the district, winning election in 2018 with 61% of the vote, and has been re-elected since. A resident of the district since 2006 and Sadsbury Township, he serves as Senior Pastor at New Life in Christ Fellowship in Coatesville for over 33 years, a former UPS driver and supervisor, and Teamster member. He is married to Baleria Alston with three children.
Notable achievements include spearheading Act 59 of 2020, which updated police training on de-escalation, use of force, and community relations—passing unanimously and signed by Governor Tom Wolf. He chairs the House Human Services Committee, advocates for fair school funding, property tax freezes for seniors, environmental protection , and community projects like SEPTA station access in Coatesville and Ash Park beautification. He also runs the Willia Mae Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Overbrook High School; B.S. from Geneva College; M.Div. and D.Min. from Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2018, defeating Harry Lewis Jr.; assumed office January 1, 2019; chairs House Human Services Committee; over 30 years of community leadership in gun violence prevention, fire/flood victim support, and policing reform.
