Biography

Dan Osman is a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 48th district in Johnson County, which includes parts of Overland Park. He assumed office on July 7, 2021, after being appointed to complete the term of Rep. Jennifer Day following her resignation, and was reelected in 2022. As of the 2025-2026 session, he serves as House Minority Policy Chair and has been active on committees including Commerce, Labor, and Economic Development; Judiciary; and Fiduciary Financial Institutions Oversight. Notable achievements include fully funding public schools and special education, cutting taxes by billions , and reforming civil asset forfeiture to protect property rights. He has hosted dozens of town halls and sent weekly legislative updates to constituents.

Education and Political Experience

Born in Overland Park, Kansas, Osman earned a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a JD from the University of Kansas. Before entering the Kansas House, he served as a prosecutor in Jackson County, Missouri, and on the Hickman Mills Board of Education in Kansas City, Missouri, including as vice president. He unsuccessfully ran for Overland Park City Council in 2019 and runs a small business focused on representation for women and minority subcontractors in construction. Osman lives in the district with his wife and two daughters, who attend Blue Valley public schools, and serves as president of his HOA.
