Biography
Dan Gaiewski is a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing the 40th District . Born around 2000 and raised in Groton, Connecticut, he won a special election on February 25, 2025, defeating Republican Robert Boris with 68.9% of the vote to succeed Christine Conley, who became a judge on the Workers' Compensation Commission. He serves on the Appropriations, Banking, Commerce, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committees, with subcommittee roles in Conservation and Development, Higher Education, and Public Health. Notable positions include his prior service on the Groton Town Council and advocacy for increased education funding.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton; earned a Bachelor's degree in Government and American Studies from Franklin and Marshall College, where he competed in cross country and track & field .
- Early Experience: Appointed to Groton's Fair Rent Commission in 2021; interned for Congressman Joe Courtney and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz; worked as an aide in the Connecticut House Democratic Caucus for Reps.
