Biography
Daniel M. Donahue is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 16th Worcester District since September 25, 2013. A resident of Worcester, he serves areas including Grafton Hill, Vernon Hill, College Hill, Massasoit Road, Green Island, and Quinsigamond Village. Notable positions include Vice-Chair of committees such as Steering Policy and Scheduling, Transportation, and State Administration and Oversight, with past roles as Vice-Chair of Redistricting, Healthcare Financing, Labor and Workforce Development, and others. He currently sits on committees for Labor and Workforce Development, Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, Transportation, and Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a BA from the College of the Holy Cross .
- Early Career: Began as a Community Outreach Worker for Worcester's Juvenile Public Defenders office, focusing on at-risk youth. Worked as campaign field staff for the 2010 Governor’s election and as Political Director for Lt. Gov. Tim Murray. Served as Director of Policy and Assistant Chief of Staff to Worcester Mayor Joe Petty in 2012.
- Political Experience: Elected in a 2013 special election to succeed John Fresolo; re-elected multiple times, including for subsequent terms.
