Biography
Dan Dawson is a Republican State Senator representing District 10 in the Iowa State Senate, based in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Born in 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska, he is a third-generation resident of Council Bluffs, married to Chrystal with two children, Alex and Madelyn; he is Catholic and active in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Currently a special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation's Major Crimes Unit and Chief Warrant Officer in the Iowa Army National Guard , he previously served as an officer with the Council Bluffs Police Department and Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office. Notable achievements include chairing the Ways and Means Committee, previously chairing Veterans Affairs, and serving on committees like Judiciary, Commerce, State Government, and Appropriations.
