Biography
Cynthia Stone Creem is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts Senate, representing the Norfolk and Middlesex district, which includes the towns of Brookline and Wellesley in Norfolk County and the city of Newton in Middlesex County. She has served as Majority Leader since 2018 and was first elected to the Senate in 1999. Notable achievements include leading the passage of H.4671 in 2018, an act for automatic voter registration through the Registry of Motor Vehicles and MassHealth, with enhanced fraud penalties up to $10,000 fines or five-year prison terms. She prioritizes issues such as criminal justice reform, health care, energy, environment, women's issues, civil rights, education, and revenue. A resident of Newton and attorney by profession, she previously served on the Massachusetts Governor's Council and Newton Board of Aldermen.
