Biography

Curt Voight is a Republican member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing District 33 . He assumed office on January 14, 2025, with his current term ending January 12, 2027. A retired educator and U.S. Army infantry sergeant aged 78, Voight resides in Rapid City with his spouse Jan , three daughters, and five grandchildren. Before politics, he served on the Breadroot Food Coop Board, Love INC Board, as Assistant Fire Chief for Doty Volunteer Fire Department, and managed Agriculture LLC. In 2024, he defeated incumbent David Johnson in the Republican primary and won the general election, campaigning on education reform, economic development, and community well-being. As senator, he advocates for sustainable growth and quality-of-life improvements.
