Biography
Curt VanderWall is a Republican representative for Michigan's 102nd House District, which includes parts of Manistee, Mason, Muskegon, and Oceana counties. Born on November 3, 1961, in Grand Rapids, he resides in Ludington and is married to Diane VanderWall, with children Nick , Alyssa, and Hunter. He owns Turf Care Mole Man, a Ludington-based fertilization, weed control, and pest control company, after 20 years in the grocery industry with Eberhard Foods and Prevo’s Family Market as a store director and supervisor. Notable community roles include past chairman of the Mason County Board of Commissioners, chair of the Women’s Jericho House Board, hunter safety and snowmobile safety instructor, and involvement with United Way boards, MSU Extension, and various county alliances.
Education and Political Experience
VanderWall graduated high school from East Kentwood and completed some college courses at Grand Rapids Community College .
His political career began with election to the Michigan House in 2016 for the 101st District , followed by service in the Michigan Senate representing northern Michigan counties. He returned to the House in 2022 for his current second term in the 102nd District. He serves as chairman of the House Health Policy Committee and holds memberships or vice chair positions on committees including Finance, Government Operations, Natural Resources and Tourism, Higher Education, Agriculture, Insurance, and Tourism and Outdoor Recreation.
